A few years ago, finding accommodation in Sembalun village was quite difficult because there weren’t many options. However, the situation has now completely reversed—it’s hard to choose because homestays, hotels, and villas have sprung up everywhere.
Mandiri Homestay Sembalun has a minimalist vibe but still caters to your travel needs with friends or family. It’s even suitable for hosting a family gathering, as it features a fairly spacious lawn and a campfire area to warm up the chilly Sembalun nights.

Location
In our opinion, Mandiri Homestay Sembalun is a sweet spot for accommodation in Sembalun. Located in Sembalun Lawang, it offers a versatile location for accessing the main tourist destinations in the village.
The access to Pergasingan Hill’s entrance gate is very close to this homestay, as is the Mount Rinjani National Park office, which can be reached within just a few minutes’ drive. If you need to shop for daily necessities, the town center and ATMs are easily accessible.

Type of Rooms and Prices
There are two types of rooms offered, namely:
Single Room
With prices starting from Rp. 250,000 per night, you’ll get an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a seated toilet. If you can’t handle cold water, the water heater works perfectly, and soap and towels are provided.
A 160×200 cm bed feels soft and comfortable, perfect for resting after a long journey.
The price also includes a simple complimentary breakfast for two people per room, which you can enjoy on the terrace overlooking the mini garden.

Family Room
The family room at Mandiri Homestay Sembalun is priced at only Rp. 550,000 per night and can accommodate up to 10 people. This family room is a house with 2 bedrooms, each equipped with a 160×200 cm bed. The bathroom is located outside the bedrooms but still within the house.
It features a spacious living room and a kitchen with complete cooking utensils. The rooftop can be used to enjoy a morning cup of coffee while taking in the stunning views of Pergasingan Hill and Mount Rinjani.
Next to the building, there is a yard and a large firepit area that you can use for campfire activities and barbecues with your family.

Camping Ground
If no rooms are available or you simply want to experience the sensation of sleeping in a tent, you can use the camping ground for Rp. 50,000 per tent per night if you bring your own tent, or Rp. 100,000 per night if you want the homestay to provide a tent, sleeping bag, and mat.
Don’t worry about bathroom facilities, as they are available near the family room, right below the stairs leading to the rooftop.

Mandiri Homestay Sembalun Cons
- The rooftop floor is not very stable, which could be concerning if there are many people up there.

- The wallpaper pattern in the family room might be too overwhelming and distracting.

With all its strengths and weaknesses, we consider Mandiri Homestay Sembalun to be very worth considering, especially given the affordable price. It’s an excellent option, particularly if you book the family room, which allows you to share costs with friends or family.
